Which was referred to the Kent county delegation.

Mr. Tower offered the following resolution,             

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the Ad-
jutant General be and is hereby directed to furnish to the order of
Captain James M. Schley, of the Allegany Guards, fifty knapsacks
by his giving satisfactory security for their safe keeping and re-
turn.
Which was read and laid over one day.

Mr. Brooke from the Select Committee reported favorably on a
bill entitled, an act to change the name of Edmund Marion Dant
of Prince George's county, to Edmund Marion Clements.

Mr. Stewart from a Special Committee reported a bill entitled,
an act to change the commencement of the September term of the
court of Howard county;

Which was read the first time;

Mr. Silver from the Committee on Corporations, presented a
bill entitled, an act amendatory of the act to incorporate the Bank
of Commerce, passed January session 1854, chapter 235, and to
increase the capital stock of said Bank to one million dollars;

Which was read the first time.

A bill entitled, an act to authorize the repayment to the Messrs.
Baring Brothers & On., of certain moneys advanced by them on
account of the State of Maryland;

Was read the second time.

A bill entitled, an act appropriating a sum of money to pay J.
Mason Campbell for services rendered the State in the trial of the
case of the State of Maryland against Isaac R. Smith in the Su-
preme Court of the United States:
Was read the second time.
On motion of Mr. Askew,
The rules were suspended to enable him to make the following

          REPORT.

The committee to whom was referred the application of Rich'd B.
Carmichael, Grafton L. Dulaney and D. C H. Emory, for compen-
sation as arbitrators in the cause of Passmore McChllough, report,
that they have diligently investigated the subject and had satisfacto-
ry proof before them that the award was made and a copy of it sent
to the treasurer's office, and that the said arbitrators have not as
yet received any compensation for their services. They therefore
report the following act for the relief of the parties therein named.
