Mr. Heath submitted the, following message which was read

and sent to the Senate:

                                                                             

By the House of Delegates,

February 1st, 1866.
Gentlemen of the Senate:

We ask your Honorable Body to return the bill entitled, an act
relating to the removal of causes from the criminal court of Balti-
more city.

By order,

                             Thomas H. Kent, of Jos., Clerk.

Mr. Merrick moved that the report of the committee on the
Penitentiary be received and 500 copies of the report be printed

for the use of this House.

                   

Which was agreed to.

The Secretary of the Senate returned a bill entitled, an act to
incorporate the Dulaney's Valley and Towsontown Turnpike
Company in Baltimore county.

Amendments Proposed.

Strike out all of section 3 from the word "States," in 8th line
from top of page 2.

Strike out in 4th line of section 10, the words "sixteen and
one half" and insert "twenty."

Strike out in 10th line the words" "such tolls, 11th and 12th
lines of section 10, and insert, "for every space of ten miles in
length of the said road the following sum of money, and so in
proportion lor any greater or lesser distance, or lor any greater
or lesser number of sheep, hogs or cattle, viz. For every score
of sheep, one eighth of a dollar; for every score of hogs, one eighth
of a dollar; lor every score of cattle, one fourth of a dollar; for
every horse and his rider, or led horse, one sixteenth of a dollar;
for every chair or chaise with one horse and two wheels, one
eighth of a dollar; for every chariot, coach, stage, wagon, phaeton
or chaise, with two horses and four wheels, one quarter of a dol-
lar, for either of the carriages last mentioned with four horses,
three eighths of a dollar; for every other carriage of pleasure un-
der whatsoever name it may go the like sums according to the num-
ber of wheels and horses drawing the same; for every cart or
wagon whose wheels do not exceed the breadth of four inches,
one eighth of a dollar for each horse drawing the same; for ev-
ery cart or wagon whose wheels shall exceed in breadth four
inches, and not exceeding seven inches, one sixteenth of a dol-
lar, for every horse drawing the same; for every cart or wagon
