Jarrett, Silver, Partridge, Smith, of Baltimore city, Abbott,
Valiant, Lester, Hugg, Askew, Harrington, Fiery, Reichard,
Loughridge, Harding. Hall, Tower, Brown, Smith, of Carroll,
Buffington, Stewart, Rowles.

The proceedings of yesterday were read.

Mr. Abbott presented a petition of Joseph E. Ramsey and 44
others asking alteration in the law for Inspection of Lumber,

Which was referred to the Committee on Inspections.

Also, a petition of D. H. Radecke and 21 others asking alter-
ation in the few of Inspection of Lumber;

Which was referred to the Committee on Inspections.           

Mr. Lester presented a petition of Jesse Hay, of the City of
Baltimore, asking compensation for paving O'Donnell's Wharf
under the direction of the State Wharfinger;                         

Which was referred to the Committee on Claims.

Mr. Harrington presented a memorial of the Justices of the
Peace of the City of Baltimore praying the re-enactment of the
law passed January Session 1854, chapter 225, with penalties added
thereto;

Which was referred to the Baltimore city delegation.

Also, a memorial of 120 citizens of Baltimore praying the
enactment of a law giving justices of the peace criminal jurisdic-
tion in certain cases;                                                 

Which was referred to Baltimore city delegation.             

Also, a memorial of 600 citizens of Baltimore praying the
enactment of a law giving justices of the peace criminal jurisdic-
tion in certain cases;

Which was referred to the Baltimore city delegation.

Mr. Sudler presented a petition of Ann Brown and W. Q.
Stone to the General Assembly of Maryland;

Which was referred to the Kent county delegation.

Also, a petition of W. Thos. Baiter and others, for power of the
county commissioners to rehear and examine the question of dam-
ages on the road to Mr. Brown's landing.

Mr. Fiery presented a petition from 300 citizens of Washing-
ton county asking an essential modification of the act of 1840,
chapter 154, to protect retail merchants against the imposition of
hawkers and pedlars;

Which was referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.
Mr. Brengle presented a petition from 49 citizens of Frederick
