Which was read the first time.

Mr. Abbott from the Select Committee reported favorably a bill
entitled, an act to authorise the Appeal Tax Court of Baltimore
city to hear the appeal of Murray and Hazlehurst;

Which was read the first time and referred to the Committee
on Ways and Means.

Mr. Hall introduced a bill entitled, an act to incorporate the
Montgomery College.                                    

Which was read the first time and referred to the Committee
on Education.

Mr. Stack from the Judiciary Committee reported a bill enti-
tled, an act requiring the State's Attorneys, for the several coun-
ties and the city of Baltimore, to give bonds for the payment into
the State Treasury of all moneys due the State and received by
them, and to make their receipts valid for the sums received by
them.                                                 

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Frazier, chairman of the Committee on Claims reported a
bill entitled, an act to pay Henry M. Murray for services rendered
the State in the case of McPherson Lyles.

Which was read the first time.                  

A bill entitled, an act to authorise the Commissioners of
Baltimore county to levy a tax upon the first election district of
said county for the payment of the debt contracted by the com-
missioners of Public Schools under the act of 1832, chapter 287.

Was read the first time.

A bill entitled, an act to authorise the payment of Bradley T.
Johnson for professional services rendered to the State.           

Was read the second time.

A bill entitled, an act to authorize the Circuit Courts for the
several counties of this State and the Criminal Court of Baltimore
city to appoint assistant counsel for the State to aid in the trial of
criminal or other State cases pending in said Courts; and to oblige
the county commissioners of the several counties and the mayor
and city council of Baltimore to provide payment for the services
of such counsel.                                                 

Mr. Rankin offered the following amendment, which was deter-
mined in the negative;

Sec. 1. Line 2d insert, after the word, "that" "upon the recom-
mendation of the grand jury."
