Committee on Lotteries.—Messrs. Stewart, Tower, Valiant,
Wolfe, Kildow, Rolph, Cullings.

Committee on the Library.—Messrs. Goldsborough, Bowie,
Harris, Witmer, Corby, Holland, Jarrett.

Committee on Printing.—Messrs. Stubbs, Silver,, Askew,
Brooke, Whitby, Harding, Hugg.

Committee on Insolvency.—Messrs. Hall, Neff, Fiery, Cul-
lings, Stack, Abbott, Corby.

Committee on Engrossed Bills and Resolutions.—Messrs. Wil-

Executive.—Messrs. Dail, Brown, Waters, Abbott, Chilcoat,
Dorsey, Harris.

On motion of Mr. Timmons,
Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary, to
bring in a bill to repeal a portion of the act passed at January
Session 1854, in relation to opening a book for the purpose of
registering claims against deceased persons.

Mr. Timmons presented the petition of Arnold Pitts, free
negro, praying the Legislature to allow him to return to the State
of Maryland.

Referred to the Worcester county delegation.
The Secretary of the Senate delivered.

A bill entitled, an act to denominate the Town of Cumberland
a City, and to change and provide an alternate for the name of
the corporate body thereof;

Endorsed "passed by yeas and nays."                              

Which was read the first time, and referred to a special com-
mittee, consisting of Messrs. Wickes, Kildow, and Tower.

Mr. Merrick moved to refer all that portion of the Governor's
Message which relates to the finances of the State, to the Com-
mittee on Ways and Means;
