NATIONAL DEFENSE HIGHWAY.

Amendments proposed by Committee:

"Amend Senator Duvall's Bill No. 261 for the construction
of the National Defense Highway, as follows: 'In line 10
providing for a bond issue, omit the words "for a bond issue
to pay for" and at the end of the words "National Defense
Highway" add the following: "together with a similar amount
called for in a Bill appropriating money by Act of Congress,
that is to say, that the State of Maryland shall appropriate
one hundred and twenty-five thousand (1125, 000) dollars
and Congress shall appropriate one hundred and twenty-five
thousand ($125, 000) dollars to construct said National De-
fense Highway. ' "

"Omit all of the paragraph beginning with the words 'And
Whereas it will be necessary for the upkeep, etc. ' to the end
of the paragraph at the words 'the State Capital. ' "
