other, who shall announce the same and the Clerk will make
a record thereof. After the ballots shall have been cast, they
shall be counted by the tellers and the result compared with
the result ascertained by the Clerk. The tellers appointed
by the Senate and by the House of Delegates, respectively,
after the vote has been cast, shall meet together, canvass
all the returns and immediately report the same to their re-
spective Bodies.

Mr. Frick submitted the following message:

-BY THE SENATE,

January 21, 1916.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:

We have received your message proposing, with the concur-
rence of. this Body, to proceed with the election of a Treasurer

of the State of Maryland on Friday, January 21, 1916, at
1 o'clock P. M., and respectfully concur therein.

We have named on the part of the Senate, Hon. Murray Van-
diver, Henry A. Osborne, Jr., and Robert F. Duer as candi-
dates, and have appointed as tellers on the part of the Senate
of Maryland, Messrs. Cooper and Zihlman, who, in connection
with the tellers appointed by your Honorable Body, are to
receive the votes of the House of Delegates and- count the
same.. We propose that the election of the Treasurer of Mary-
land shall be by joint ballot, in accordance with Article 6,
Section 1, of the Constitution of the State of Maryland, and
that the procedure be as follows,:

Each member, in his respective Chamber, as his name is
called by the Reading Clerk thereof, will advance and hand
his ballot to one of the tellers, who shall exhibit it to the other,
who shall announce the same and the Clerk will make a record
thereof. After the ballots shall have been cast, they shall be
counted by the tellers and the result compared with the re-
sult ascertained by the Clerk. The tellers appointed by the
Senate and by the House of Delegates, respectively, after the
ballot vote have been cast, shall meet together,. canvass all of
the returns and immediately report the same to their respec-
tive Bodies.
