his office, who shall be deputy treasurers, qualify under the
laws of the State and give such bond to the Treasurer as he
may require, but the aggregate annual salary of said clerk or
clerks shall in no case exceed the sum of eight hundred dol-
lars, to be paid by the County Commissioners. '" [Which
was read and adopted. ]

"Amend Section 24-W by striking out lilies 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6,
7 and 8 thereof in printed Bill, and the words 'in this Act
in the ninth line thereof. ' " [Which was read and adopted. ]

"Amend Section 24-Y by striking out the word 'June, ' in the
second line of the printed Bill, and in lieu thereof insert the
word 'December' and by striking out the word 'this' in said
line and inserting in lieu thereof the word 'the'; and by strik-
ing out the figures '1916' in said line and inserting in lieu
thereof the figures '1917. '" [Which was read and adopted. ]

"Amend Bill by adding two new sections to it at the end
thereof to follow Section 27 to be designated as Sections 3
and 4, to read as follows:

'Section 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
not affect the term or duty of the present Treasurer of Carroll
county and the various collectors of taxes of said Carroll
county shall, after it goes into effect, collect all taxes levied
and placed in their hands and shall possess all the powers
they now have under the general laws of this State.

'Section 4. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect on the first day of June, 1917. '" [Which was read
and adopted. ]

[Which favorable report was adopted, which was read the
second time and ordered printed for a third reading. ]

Two-thirds of all the Senators voting in the affirmative, the
rules were suspended by yeas and nays as follows:
