ment of probation officers and for the payment of their salaries
and expenses; to restrict and under certain circumstances
take away the jurisdiction of the justices of the peace for the
several counties in such cases, and to prescribe the punish-
ment for persons encouraging the dependency or delinquency,
or neglecting the support of minors or advising any minor to
leave the custody to which he or she may have been com-

By Mr. Kaufman: Senate Bill No. 587, entitled "An Act
transferring the property and estate now controlled and vested
by law in the president and visitors of Frederick College of
Frederick county, Maryland, to the Board of County School
Commissioners of Frederick county, Maryland, and their
successors in office. " [Which was read the first time and re-
ferred to the Committee on Finance. ]
By Mr. Cooper: Senate Bill No. 588, entitled "An Act to re-
fund to George Keck and Peter J. Campbell, receivers of The
Golden Gate Company of Baltimore city, the sum of one hun-
dred and eighty-five dollars and sixty-four cents (|185. 64)
for a wholesale liquor license, the said The Golden Gate Com-
pany of Baltimore city having gone out of business and its
effects sold prior to the twenty-third day of February, 1916,
and the said license not having been used thereafter. " [Which
was read the first time and referred to the Committee on Fi-
nance. ]
By Mr. Shepherd, by request: Senate Bill No. 589, entitled
"An Act to authorize the Commissioners of Cambridge to con-
struct curbs and gutters on the streets of the City of Cam-
bridge and to restore the street beds, and to issue and sell
bonds to pay for said work. " [Which was read the first time
and referred to Senators Shepherd, Cooper and Leg g. ]

repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 167-c, 167-d,
167-e, 167-f and 167-j of Chapter 403 of the Acts of the Gen-
eral Assembly of Maryland of 1910, entitled 'An Act to add
13 sections to Article 15 of the Code of Public Local Laws,
title "Kent County, " sub-title "Roads, " to follow Section 167 of
said Article 15, to be known as Sections 167-a, 167-b, 167-c,
167-d, 167 e, 167-f, 167-g, 167-h, 167-i, 167-j, 167-k, 167-1 and 167-m,
and to repeal all other laws, or parts or sections of all other
