and 17-B, and to provide for the presence at hearings under
habeas corpus of the State's Attorney of the county or city
from which the person confined was committed, and for the
correction of errors, omissions or irregularities appearing on

By Mr. Johnson: Senate Bill No. 570, entitled "An Act to
repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 120 and 143
of Article 81 of the Code of Public General Laws of Maryland,
title 'Revenue 'and Taxes, ' sub-title 'Collateral Inheritance
Tax, ' to provide for the taxation of estates passing to lineal
descendants and to change the rate of the Collateral Inheri-
tance Tax. " [Which was read the first time and referred to
the Committee on Finance. ]

By the President: Senate Bill No. 571, entitled "An Act to
repeal Sections. 865, 866, 867, 868, 869, 870, 871, 872 and 873
of Article 4 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland,
as enacted by Chapter 123 of the Acts of the General Assembly
of Maryland of 1898, title 'City of Baltimore, ' sub-title
''Vagrants, Paupers, Beggars, Vagabonds and Disorderly Per-
sons'7 and to enact a new section in lieu of Section 865 of
said Article 4, making it a misdemeanor for any person to
demand or accept any remuneration or gratuity for forecast-
ing or foretelling or pretending to forecast or foretell the
future of another by certain means and providing a penalty
therefor; to enact new sections in lieu of Sections 868, 869,
870, 871 and 873 of said Article 4; to re-enact, with amend-
ments, Section 866 of said Article 4, so as to make it a mis-
demeanor for any female person to solicit or procure or at-
tempt to solicit or procure or walk the streets of said city
for the purpose of soliciting or procuring any male person or
persons to engage in sexual intercourse or in any other im-
moral practice with her or any other person for compensation
or reward and otherwise to amend said Section 866; to re-
enact, with amendments, Section 867 of said Article 4 and
to re-enact Section 871 as Section 872 of said Article 4. "
