WHEREAS, A Bill has been introduced in the General Assem-
bly of Maryland by Representative Smith, of Allegany county,
which, if enacted into law, will bring prohibition to the State
of Maryland; and
WHEREAS, This State Federation has gone on record again
and again protesting against the passage of such a Bill, be-
lieving it to be derogatory to the best interests of many
hundreds of union workmen; therefore, be it
Resolved, That this Federation declare its opposition to this
Bill, and call upon the General Assembly to defeat it; and be
it further
Resolved, That the secretary of this body be instructed to
communicate our action to each Delegate and Senator in the
General Assembly, and urge them to use every endeavor to
defeat the Bill mentioned above.

INTRODUCTION OF BILLS.

"An Act to provide for automatic fire escapes on factories;
to give to the fire marshal power of regulation and control
over the same, and to provide for penalties for tampering
with such fire escapes, or with the card of instructions regu-
lating their use. " [Which was read the first time and re-
ferred to the Committee, on Judicial Proceedings. ]
By Mr. Collier: Senate Bill No. 436, entitled "An Act to
repeal Chapter 400 of Article 21 of the Acts passed at the
session of the General Assembly of 1910, entitled 'An Act to
require the County Commissioners of Talbot county to pay
annually to the Commissioners of the town of St. Michaels a
portion of the taxes levied upon the property within the limits
of the town of St. Michaels, ' and to re-enact the same with
amendments. "[Which was read the first time and referred to

By Mr. Duvall: Senate Bill No. 437, entitled "An Act to
refund to the Patapsco Electric and Manufacturing Company
of Delaware, a foreign corporation, the sum of money er-
roneously paid by it to the Comptroller of the State of Mary-
