INTRODUCTION OF BILLS.
By the President: Senate Bill No. 347, entitled "An Act to
repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 517-C of the
revised Charter of Baltimore city. " [Which was read the first
time and referred to the City Senators. ]
By Mr. Bomberger: Senate Bill No. 348, entitled "An Act to
authorize and empower the Mayor and Council of Hagerstown
to provide by special or general ordinance, requiring all abut-
ting owners on any street or highway of Hagerstown or any
portion thereof, to pay as therein set forth a certain portion
of the costs of installing a system of lighting said streets and
highways or portion thereof with electricity in the manner
and method commonly known as a 'White Way' system of
lighting thereof, making the said costs a lien on said property;
providing for the payment thereof by the said abutting own-
ers and the Mayor and Council in certain pro rata proportions,
as therein set forth and providing a means for the collection
thereof. " [Which was read the first time and referred to Sena-
tors Bomberger, Kaufman and Warfield. ]
By Mr. Ogden: Senate Bill No. 349, entitled "An Act to add
a new section to be known as Section 1 3/4 to Chapter 180 of
the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland of the year
1910, entitled 'An Act to create and establish a Public Service
Commission and prescribing its power and duties, and to
provide for the regulation and control of Public Service Cor-
porations and Public Utilities and making appropriations
therefor, ' as amended by Chapter 445 of the Acts of the Gen-
eral Assembly of Maryland of 1914, and to repeal Section 122
of Chapter 471 of the Acts of the General Assembly of Mary-
land of the year 1868, as set forth in Section 129 of Article 23
of the Code of Public Civil Laws of Maryland. " [Which was
read the first time and referred to the Committee on Finance. ]
By Mr. Bomberger: Senate Bill No. 350, entitled "An Act to
direct the County Commissioners of Washington county to
borrow a sum of money not exceeding two hundred fifty thou-
sand dollars ($250, 000) on the credit of said county, with
which to purchase or condemn real estate and to pay for the
erection of a high school building in the City of Hagerstown,
Maryland, and for the erection of, addition to, and improve-
ments of public school buildings in said county, and to issue
bonds therefor, and to levy on the assessable property in Wash-
ington county an annual tax sufficient to pay said bonds as
they mature, and to pay the interest thereon as it becomes due. "
