PRESENTATION OF PETITIONS, MEMORIALS AND
OTHER PAPERS.

By the President: Petition of the Baltimore Chamber of
Commerce—James C. Legg, president; James B. Hessong^
secretary—against the passage of a State-wide Prohibition
Bill affecting Baltimore city. [Which was read the first time
and referred to the Committee on Temperance. ]

BALTIMORE, February 17, 1916.
HON. PETER J. CAMPBELL,

President of the Senate, Annapolis, Maryland.
DEAR SIR:

At a general meeting of the members held this day the fol-
lowing resolutions were adopted, viz.:

WHEREAS, The City of Baltimore is now launched upon a
career of industrial and commercial expansion and develop-
ment which will in time redound to the benefit of all of its
citizens, and to the citizens of the entire State of Maryland,
the interests of the City and State being an indivisible and
concrete whole; and

WHEREAS, There is now pending before the General As-
sembly of Maryland, a Bill providing for submission to the
electorate of the State, a proposal to vote upon the question
of State-wide Prohibition; and
