By Mr. Johnson, by request: Senate Bill No. —— entitled
"An Act to authorize and direct the Treasurer of the State of
Maryland and the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore, to
refund to Craft W. Voneiff, certain moneys paid in advance by
the said Craft W. Voneiff for a wholesale liquor license for a
period including two hundred and forty-five days, during
which time the said Craft W. Voneiff was not in the whole-
sale liquor business. " [Which was read the first time and re-
ferred to the Committee on Finance. ]

By Mr. Johnson, by request: Senate Bill No. 291, entitled
"An Act to enable the qualified voters of the Second Election
District of Howard county to determine by ballot whether
spirituous, fermented or intoxicating liquors or alcoholic
bitters shall be sold within the corporate limits of Ellicott
City, located in said Second Election District of said county. "
[Which was read the first time and referred to Senators
Johnson, Jones and Holmead. ]

By Mr. Johnson, by request: Senate Bill No. 292, entitled
"An Act to provide for the selection and purchase of a site and
for the construction of a public high school building and the
furnishing of a heating apparatus and equipment therefor in
the Second District of Howard county, Maryland, and to direct
the Board of County School Commissioners of said county to
borrow money for this purpose by the issuing of bonds to be
endorsed by the County Commissioners of Howard county,
and to direct the County Commissioners of Howard county to
levy taxes on the assessable property in said county to redeem
said bonds, and pay the interest thereon. " [Which was read
the first time and referred to Senators Johnson, Holmead and
Jones. ]

By Mr. Johnson, by request: Senate Bill No. 293, entitled
"An Act to authorize and direct the County Commissioners
of Howard county to levy for the year 1917, seven thousand
dollars ($7, 000. 00), and for the year 1918, seven thousand
dollars ($7, 000. 00), to build two schoolhouses, one in the
Third Election District of Howard county and the other in the
Fourth Election District of Howard county. " [Which was
read the first time and referred to Senators Johnson, Jones and
Holmead. ]

By Mr. Mudd: Senate Bill No. 294, entitled "An Act to
amend Chapter 657 of the Acts of 1914, entitled 'An Act to
enable the registered and qualified voters of Charles county,
to determine by ballot at a special election to be held for the
purpose, whether or not spirituous, fermented, malt, or any
