Section 5 of the village of Chevy Chase, Montgomery county,
Maryland, and to authorize, empower and direct the Board of
County Commissioners of Montgomery county, Maryland, upon
request of a majority of those present at meetings of the resi-
dent property owners in said area, to make special levies of
not less than twenty (20) cents, nor more than fifty (50)
cents on each one hundred (100). dollars of the assessable-
property of the said" part of the village of Chevy Chase, within
certain boundaries, for the purpose of opening, improving,, re-
pairing and lighting the streets, roads, lanes, alleys, side-
walks, parking, drainage, sewerage, sanitation and other vil-
lage improvements, and for furnishing police protection, cleri-
cal and other public service, including the removal of ashes,
garbage and other refuse, and the disposal thereof; for the
employment of a building inspector to enforce the require-
ments of all conveyances of land situated in. said village, and
the promulgation of building and other regulations; also di-
recting the said Board of County Commissioners to pay over
to the treasurer of the Chevy Chase Improvement Association.
for disbursement for opening, improving, maintaining and re-
pairing the county roads, streets and lanes, the money col-
lected on account of the county road tax in the same amount
and manner as is now required by law to be paid to incor-
porated towns in said county; also empowering the Board
of Directors of the Chevy Chase Improvement Association,,
subject to the approval of the said Board of County Commis-
sioners, to. assess the cost of certain special improvements
against the property abutting on streets, roads, lanes and
sidewalks for certain improvements; the collection of such as-
sessment and disbursement thereof for the benefit of the resi-
dents of said part of said village; also empowering said Board
of Directors, subject to the approval of the Board of County
Commissioners, to acquire, by purchase, condemnation or
otherwise, property for sewerage disposal purposes, and to as-
sess the cost against the property using the same; also for
the authorization to hold meetings of the resident property
owners to request the special levy; also to repeal Chapter 383
of the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland, 1910,
authorizing special levies for said village of Chevy Chase, in
so far as the same may apply to that part of said village
lying north and east of the Broad Branch and Brookville
roads, and herein described as Section 5 of said village. "
