PRESENTATION OF PETITIONS, MEMORIALS AND
OTHER PAPERS.

The President submitted a petition from the Maryland State
Board of the Daughters of the American Revolution, endorsing
the petition presented to the General Assembly of Maryland,
Session of 1916, in favor of an adequate appropriation to St.
Mary's Female Seminary of St. Mary's City, Maryland. En-
dorsed by May A. Bosley, Maryland State Regent; Hester
Dorsey Richardson, Maryland State Historian; Katharine M.
Brevitt, Maryland State Corresponding Secretary. [Which
was read and referred to the Committee on Finance. ']

Also a memorial of Wm. R. Scott, a patient in the Pine
Bluff Sanatorium at Salisbury, Wicomico county, Md. [Which
was read and referred to the Committee on Finance. ]

Gentlemen of the Senate: February 11, 1916.

I herewith hand you the protest of Bernard J. Lee, Esq.,
Warden of the Baltimore City Jail, protesting against a Bill
to establish a permanent place in the Baltimore City Jail in
Baltimore, Md., for the execution of persons upon whom the
death penalty is to be imposed in this State.
