"In title of Bill, after the word 'Act,' strike out the word

^requiring' and insert in lieu thereof 'authorizing.'-"

"In Section 1, line 4, after the word 'than,' strike out all the

words up to and including 'over' and insert in lieu thereof the

following: 'June 1, 1916, to acquire and take over without

cost to the State of Maryland.7 "

"Section 1, line 3, strike out the words 'and directed.7 "

SUBJECT: CAMBRIDGE AND BLACKWATER CANAL
COMPANY.

[Endorsed: "Read the third time and passed by yeas and
nay s y as amended"']

Amendment proposed by House of Delegates: "Strike
out all after the words <a Bill' and add: 'entitled An Act to
incorporate the Cambridge and Blackwater Canal Company.

'Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Albanns Phillips, Levi B. Phillips, W. Grason
Winterbottom, T. Sangston Tnsley, Robert H. Matthews,
Earle W. Orem, George W. Woolford, W. Hamilton Spedden,
Edward S. Phillips, P. Watson Webb, Vernon S. L. Bradley,
William H. Hertford, J. Lockwood Shepherd, Edgar B. Sim-
mons and William E. Hearn, of Dorchester county, State of
Maryland, and their successors and assigns, be and they are
hereby created a body corporate under the name of the Cam-
bridge and Blackwater Canal Company, and by that name shall
have perpetual succession.

'Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said company, under
above name, shall be capable in law to sue and be sued, to
plead and be impleaded, and to answer and to be answered in
any court of law of equity; to make and use a common seal
and to alter the same at pleasure; and shall have the right
and power to construct, own and operate a canal in Dorches-
