dollars; for the support of a State Biological Laboratory, and
the manufacture and distribution of hog cholera serum, and
for such other work as may be necessary to circumscribe and
suppress this and other diseases, as provided for in Chapter
842 of the Acts of 1912, the sum of five thousand dollars; for
the purpose of carrying out the provisions of Chapter 424
of the Acts of 1914, providing for the inspection of farm
seeds, the sum of five thousand dollars; for the purpose of
carrying out the provisions of Article 48 of the Annotated
Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, as amended by the
Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland of 1916, title
"Inspection, " sub-title "State Horticultural Department, " and
for the further purpose of carrying out Sections 74-A, 74-B,
74-C, 74-D, 74-E, 74-F, 74-G, 74-H and 74-I of said Article re-
lating to the encouragement of agriculture, the sum of eight
thousand dollars; for paying the salaries of officers, assist-
ants and clerks, and for defraying the expenses of travel,
office rent, and for the purchase of necessary office supplies
and furniture, the sum of five thousand dollars; and, for de-
ficiency in interest, the sum of two thousand forty-seven dol-
lars and forty-four cents;
'For Court costs due by the State in the trial of thirty-
eight oyster condemnation cases, under Section 96-C of Arti-
cle 72 of the Annotated Code of Public General Laws of
Maryland, at the October, 1915, term of the Circuit Court for
Somerset county the sum of thirteen hundred and nine dollars
and sixty-nine cents: for Court costs due by the State in the
trial of fourteen oyster condemnation cases, under Section
96-C of Article 72 of the Annotated Code of Public General
Laws of Maryland, at the January, 1915, term of the Circuit
Court for Calvert county, the sum of seven hundred eighty-
three dollars and fifty-five cents; for counsel fees to W.
Thomas Kemp, Esquire, for assisting the State's Attorney,
under order of the said Circuit Court for Calvert county with
the approval of the Governor, and the Attorney-General, the
sum of two hundred and fifty dollars.
'To Springfield State Hospital, for the purchase in fee simple
of the farm of E. Frank Ely and Nannie F. Ely, his wife, ad-
jacent to the said Hospital in Carroll county, upon the release
and settlement, in such form as may be satisfactory to the
Attorney General, of all suits and claims for damages or other-
wise, which the said E. Frank Ely and Nannie F. Ely, his wife,
have or might have against the said Hospital, or the managers
or superintendent, or any State officials, or the State, the sum
of sixteen thousand five hundred dollars.
