George's County" and "Montgomery County", sub-title "Washing-
ton Suburban Sanitary District", said new section to be known as
Section 1623A of the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince George's
County (1953 Edition), and Section 74-88.1 of the Montgomery
County Code (1955 Edition), and to follow immediately after Sec-
tions 1623 and 74-88, respectively, to authorize the Washington
Suburban Sanitary Commission to provide by rule for the desig-
nation of a beneficiary or beneficiaries by classified employees to
receive the final salary payment and payment for any unused
earned vacation leave upon death of the employee, and to authorize
the disbursing officer of the Commission to pay such designated
beneficiary or beneficiaries.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new section be and it is hereby added to the Code of Public
Local Laws of Prince George's County (1953 Edition), and the Mont-
gomery County Code (1955 Edition), being, respectively, Articles
17 and 16 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, titles
"Prince George's County" and "Montgomery County", sub-title
"Washington Suburban Sanitary District", said new section to be
known as Section 1623A of the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince
George's County (1953 Edition), and Section 74-88.1 of the Mont-
gomery County Code (1955 Edition), and to follow immediately after
Sections 1623 and 74-88, respectively, and to read as follows:
1623A. (74-88.1). The Commission may by rule provide for the
designation by a classified employee of the person or persons to whom
the final salary payment and any sum which may be due for unused
earned vacation leave should be made upon the death of such em-
ployee. The designation of the beneficiary shall be in writing and
shall be on file with the Commission before the death of the employee,
but the writing need not be in testamentary form, and neither the
designation nor the payment shall be deemed to be a testamentary
disposition. The disbursing officer of the Commission may pay over
directly to the beneficiary or beneficiaries so designated by an em-
ployee such sum or sums as may be due and owing to the deceased em-
ployee for salary and for any unused earned vacation leave.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.
