82                                Laws of Maryland                        [Ch. 94

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 25 (a) of Article 51 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1960 Supplement), title "Juries", sub-title "Classification and Selec-
tion of Jurors", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments; and that a new Section 25(i) be and it is hereby added
to said article and sub-title (1957 Edition and 1960 Supplement), to
follow immediately after Section 25(h) thereof, all to read as follows:

25. Pay and mileage.

(a) Jurors in Washington County shall receive eight dollars per
day and a reasonable amount, in the discretion of the County Com-
missioners for each mile over five miles in going to and returning
from court; in Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne's and Caroline counties,
and in Baltimore City, seven dollars and fifty cents per day; in
Somerset [and Worcester counties] County, seven dollars and fifty
cents per day; in Anne Arundel and Montgomery counties, ten dollars
per day, and no extra allowance shall be given either for mileage or
overtime in Anne Arundel and Montgomery counties; in Carroll
County, eight dollars per day; in Prince George's County, jurors
shall receive per diem compensation, not less than five ($5.00) dollars
nor more than ten ($10.00) dollars, in such amounts as shall be set,
from time to time, by the judges of the Circuit Court for said county
and in all other counties, except Allegany, Baltimore, Frederick,
Harford, Charles, St. Mary's and Wicomico counties, five dollars per
day for each and every day they shall attend the several courts of this
State as jurors and fifteen cents for each mile over five miles for
going to and returning from the court, once in each term, to be
paid by the counties, respectively, in which courts are held. In Bal-
timore County, jurors shall receive per diem compensation in such
amounts as shall be set, from time to time, by the judges of the
Circuit Court of Baltimore County. Jurors in Frederick County shall
receive at least eight dollars per day for each and every day they
shall attend the Circuit Court of Frederick County as jurors and a
reasonable amount in the discretion of the County Commissioners,
for each mile going to and returning from the court.

(i) In Worcester County, jurors shall receive seven dollars and
fifty cents for each day they attend the Circuit Court and such amount
as set from time to time in the discretion of the County Commis-
sioners for traveling expenses incurred during their jury duty.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.
