CHAPTER 378
(Senate Bill 248)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 177 of
Article 66½ of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition),
title '"Motor Vehicles", sub-title "Unsatisfied Claim and Judgment
Fund", providing penalties for knowingly operating uninsured
motor vehicles without having paid certain fees as required by the
Motor Vehicle Law.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 177 of Article 66½ of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1957 Edition), title "Motor Vehicles", sub-title "Unsatisfied Claim
and Judgment Fund", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:
177.
Any person and any agent or servant of such person, who know-
ingly files with the fund, Board or Treasurer, or any or either of
them, any notice, statement or other document required under this
sub-title, which is false or untrue or contains any material misstate-
ment of fact, or who knowingly operates an uninsured motor vehicle
without having paid the fee prescribed in Section 151 of this sub-
title, shall be subject to a fine of not less than one hundred dollars
($100.00), nor more than five hundred dollars ($500.00), or impris-
onment for not more than thirty days, at the discretion of the court.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 209 (a)
of Article 66½ of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition),
title "Motor Vehicles", sub-title "Operation of Vehicles upon
Highways", deleting from the same provisions regarding the op-
eration of motor vehicles at a rate of speed greater than is reason-
able and proper.
