CHAPTER 369
(Senate Bill 189)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
8(c) (3) (ii) of Article 95A of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1957 Edition; 1960 Supplement), title "Unemployment Insur-
ance Law", sub-title "Contributions", relating to the relationship
between the employer's experience ratio and the contribution basic
rate payable by employers under the Unemployment Insurance
Law under certain conditions.
Whereas, In Chapter 21 of the Laws enacted at the 1960 Session
of the General Assembly of Maryland, which amended Section 8(c)
of Article 95A of the Annotated Code of Maryland, title "Unemploy-
ment Insurance Law", sub-title "Contributions", there was a table
showing the employer's benefit ratio and the employer's contribution
basic rate, and the relationship between them; and,
Whereas, The table as set forth in the Laws of 1960 appears to be
ambiguous and has been the source of a considerable amount of mis-
understanding in connection with the placing of the decimal point;
and,
Whereas, It is important that the ambiguity in question be clari-
fied to unequivocally show the legislative intent.
NOW, THEREFORE,
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 8(c) (3) (ii) of Article 95A of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1957 Edition; 1960 Supplement), title "Unemployment
Insurance Law", sub-title "Contributions", be and it is hereby re-
pealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
Section 8(c) (3) (ii)the contribution rate of each employer for
whom a benefit ratio is computed shall be as set forth in the table
below, hereafter referred to as the "Table of Basic Rates":
