CHAPTER 291

(Senate Bill 436)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 586 of
the Charter and Public Local Laws of Baltimore City (1949
Edition), being Article 4 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland, title "Baltimore City", sub-title "Police Commissioners",
sub-heading "Special Fund", amending the laws concerning the
so-called Special Fund applicable in the Police Department of
Baltimore City in order to change the conditions for payments
thereunder to the widow of certain members of the police force
killed while in the actual performance of duty or having died in
consequence of injuries received while in the discharge of duty.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 586 of the Charter and Public Local Laws of Baltimore
City (1949 Edition), being Article 4 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland, title "Baltimore City", sub-title "Police Commis-
sioners", sub-heading "Special Fund", be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

586. The Police Commissioner shall pay to the widow of any
member of said police force [within the limits of said city] who shall
have been killed while in the actual performance of duty, or shall
have died in consequence of injuries received while in the discharge
of duty an allowance until she remarries, equal to the sum which her
husband would have received, had he been retired, under Section
593. If there be no widow, but a child or children, then he shall pay
to such child or children whilst under the age of eighteen years, a
sum such as parent would have been entitled to out of said special
fund under said Section 593.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.

CHAPTER 292

(Senate Bill 438)

AN ACT to add one new Section to Article 23 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Wicomico County (1959 Edition, being Article 23
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Wicomico
County", new sub-title "Wicomico County Free Library, Inc.", and
to follow immediately after Section 194 of said Article, authoriz-
ing the County Commissioners of Wicomico County to levy and
appropriate money to the Wicomico County Free Library, Inc., a
non-profit corporation of the State of Maryland.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new Section 194A be and it is hereby added to the Code of
Public Local Laws of Wicomico County (1959 Edition, being Article
23 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Wicomico
