ty Treasurers", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:

51.

(k) The county treasurer of Harford County shall receive an
annual salary of [$6,000.00] $7,000.00 and this shall be his sole com-
pensation for services performed by him of any character whatever,
including the issuance of licenses. The treasurer shall appoint a
deputy treasurer, who shall give such bond to the treasurer as the
said treasurer may require, and shall receive an annual salary as such
deputy treasurer, to be fixed by the treasurer and County Commis-
sioners, payable in monthly installments.

In the absence or incapacity of the treasurer of Harford County,
for any reason, the deputy treasurer shall have full right, power and
authority and it shall be the duty of said deputy treasurer, to sign
and execute any instruments and to otherwise act for and in behalf
of the said treasurer of Harford County with full authority and in all.
matters pertaining to the office of said treasurer.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the provisions of this Act
shall not be construed to extend or apply to the Treasurer in office
on the effective date hereof, but shall take effect with the next term
of office.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted. That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.

CHAPTER 229
(Senate Bill 390)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 70 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Allegany County (1955 Edition, being
Article 1 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title
"Allegany County", sub-title "County Commissioners", as said sec-
tion was last amended by Chapter 107 of the Acts of 1957, revising
the local laws of Allegany County with respect to payments by the
County Commissioners to certain charitable institutions therein.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 70 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Allegany County
(1955 Edition, being Article 1 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland), title "Allegany County", sub-title "County Commis-
sioners", as said section was last amended by Chapter 107 of the
Acts of 1957, be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:

70. The County Commissioners of Allegany County are authorized
to levy annually and collect [from the assessable property in Allegany
