OF AN ENGINEERING STUDY AND SURVEY MADE BY THE
SAID COMMISSION, INVOLVING ENGINEERING STUDIES
AND SURVEYS TO DETERMINE PROPER SAND DUNE ELE-
VATION, SHORE PROTECTION FACILITIES, BUILDING SET-
BACK LINES AND RESTRICTIONS, TYPE AND METHOD OF
SOIL STABILIZATION OF BEACH AND DUNES, THE LOCA-
TION AND METHOD OF ERECTING SAND FENCES AND
SUCH OTHER THINGS AND ACTS AS MAY BE NECESSARY
TO PROTECT THE OCEAN HIGHWAY BETWEEN OCEAN
CITY, MARYLAND, AND THE DELAWARE LINE FROM BE-
ING DAMAGED OR DESTROYED BY FLOOD WATERS. THE
MONIES FOR ANY SUCH REIMBURSEMENT SHALL BE
TAKEN FROM THE GENERAL FUNDS OF THE COUNTY, AND
THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS MAY LEVY AND APPROPRI-
ATE FOR ANY SUCH PAYMENT.
Sec. 6. 7. And be it further enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That this Act shall take effect June 1, 1961.

CHAPTER 221
(Senate Bill 241)
AN ACT to add new Sections 6A to 6J, inclusive, to Article 24 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Worcester County", to follow immediately after Section 6 thereof
and to be under the new sub-title "Beach Protection", providing
generally for the regulation and control of beaches in Worcester
County lying between the Atlantic Ocean on the East and Asso-
woman Bay, Isle of Wight Bay, Sinepuxent Bay and Chincoteague
Bay on the West and between the Delaware State Line on the
North and the Virginia State Line on the South; providing that
the County Commissioners of Worcester County have certain pow-
ers to regulate and control the taking of sand, dirt, soil, stones,
gravel, or vegetation therefrom and relating generally to the pres-
ervation, conservation, control and regulation of the natural to-
pography and the soil and sand of this portion of Worcester
County.
Whereas, The area of the State of Maryland lying along the At-
lantic Ocean front is a principal asset to the economy of the entire
State of Maryland, and as such should be protected and preserved.
It also is one of the principal assets of Worcester County, and as such
likewise should be protected and preserved. The area is itself wholely
or in part protected from the actions of the Atlantic Ocean by a
system of natural or constructed dunes providing a natural pro-
tective barrier for adjacent lands from the actions of sand, wind
and water, but certain persons, firms or corporations have under-
