I, Thomas B. Finan, Secretary of State of the State of
Maryland, pursuant to the direction contained in Section 172 of
Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition),
DO hereby certify, that at the General Election held in the State of
Maryland on November 8, 1960, an Act known as Chapter 596 of the
Acts of 1959, was submitted to the voters of Charles County under the
provisions of Chapter 596 of the Acts of 1959, said Act being as
follows:
"An Act to add new Sections 255 (1) to (14) to Article 9 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
'Charles County', to be under the new sub-title 'Police' and to
follow immediately after Section 254 thereof, providing for the
establishment, regulation, duties, members, qualifications and
salary of the Police Department of Charles County and relating
generally to police in Charles County and to repeal all laws in-
consistent herewith."
and I DO certify, that at said election 2,848 votes were cast in
favor of adoption of Chapter 596 of the Acts of 1959 and 5,115 votes
were cast against adoption of said Chapter 596 of the Acts of 1959, the
said Act has therefore failed of ratification.
In Testimony Whereof, I have hereunto subscribed my
name and affixed my Official Seal at the City of
Annapolis, this 7th day of December, 1960.
