I, Thomas B. Finan, Secretary of State of the State of
Maryland, pursuant to the direction contained in Section 172 of
Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, (1957 Edition), Do
Hereby Certify, that at the General Election held in the State of
Maryland on November 8, 1960, an Act known as Chapter 65 of the
Acts of 1960, was submitted to the voters of the State of Maryland,
pursuant to the provisions of Article 14 of the Constitution of the
State of Maryland, said Act being as follows:
"An Act to propose an amendment to Article 43 of the Declara-
tion of Rights of the Constitution of the State of Maryland,
granting authorization to the General Assembly to provide that
land actively devoted to farm or agricultural use shall be
assessed on the basis of such use and shall not be assessed as
if sub-divided and submitting this amendment to the qualified
voters of the State for adoption or rejection."
AND I DO certify, that at said election 334,888 votes were cast in
favor of the adoption of Chapter 65 of the Acts of 1960, and 123,636
votes were cast against adoption of said Chapter 65 of the Acts of
1960, the said Act has therefore been ratified by a majority of the
qualified voters of the State of Maryland.
In Testimony Whereof, I have hereunto subscribed my
name and affixed my official seal at the City of
Annapolis this 20th day of December, 1960.
