I, Thomas B. Finan, Secretary of State of the State of
Maryland, pursuant to the direction contained in Section 172 of
Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, (1957 Edition), Do
Hereby Certify, that at the General Election held in the State of
Maryland on November 8, 1960, an Act known as Chapter 761 of the
Acts of 1959, was submitted to the voters of the State of Maryland,
pursuant to the provisions of Article 14 of the Constitution of the
State of Maryland, said Act being as follows:
"An Act to propose an amendment to Section 21 of Article IV of
the Constitution of Maryland, title 'Judiciary Department', sub-
title Tart III—Circuit Courts', to provide for an additional
Judge of the Circuit COURT in Montgomery County, to be
elected by the qualified voters of said County at the first biennial
general election for Representatives in Congress after the
adoption of the said amendment. TO PROVIDE FOR AN AD-
DITIONAL JUDGE IN THE SECOND JUDICIAL CIRCUIT,
RELATING TO THE ELIGIBILITY OF MEMBERS OF THE
GENERAL ASSEMBLY FOR THE OFFICE OF JUDGE,
AND SUBMITTING THIS AMENDMENT TO THE QUALI-
FIED VOTERS OF THE STATE FOR ADOPTION OR RE-
JECTION."
AND I DO certify, that at said election 236,482 votes were cast in
favor of the adoption of Chapter 761 of the Acts of 1959, and 166,407
votes were cast against adoption of said Chapter 761 of the Acts of
1959, the said Act has therefore been ratified by a majority of the
qualified voters of the State of Maryland.
In Testimony Whereof, I have hereunto subscribed my
name and affixed my official seal at the City of
Annapolis this 20th day of December, 1960.
