J. MILLARD TAWES, GOVERNOR                          1777

For the adoption of Chapter 71, aforesaid, 254,326 votes were
cast, and against the adoption thereof, 138,672 votes were cast;
and

Now, Therefore, I, J. Millard Tawes, Governor of Maryland,
in pursuance of the authority and direction contained in Section 1 of
Article XIV of the Constitution of Maryland, do by this my Proclama-
tion hereby declare and proclaim that the greatest number of votes
having been cast in favor of the above recited Chapters 14, 224, 234,
373, 444, 575, 604, 642, 664, 743, 761, 11, 64, 65 and 71, and each of
them the same as specifically set forth in said Acts, have been and
are duly ratified by the legal and qualified voters of the State, and
henceforth they, and each of them shall become parts of the Consti-
tution of the State of Maryland, as in said Acts specifically set forth.

Given Under My Hand and the Great Seal of the State of
Maryland, done at the City of Annapolis this 1st day
of December, in the Year of Our Lord, One Thousand
Nine Hundred and Sixty.
