guards shall not be deemed a part of the Anne Arundel County Police
Force nor entitled to the benefits of retirement pension laws for
members of the police force.
(c) All school crossing guards shall be under the supervision of the
Chief of Police of the Anne Arundel County Police Force, and under
the direct supervision of such officers as he shall assign.
(d) The school crossing guards shall have the power to direct
traffic at all school crossings in Anne Arundel County and at such
other places along the public highways in Anne Arundel County as
the Chief of Police shall direct.
(e) Any person not obeying a lawful order or command of a school
crossing guard shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction
thereof shall be fined a sum not in excess of $25.00.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.

AN ACT to repeal Sections 16-37, 16-38, 16-39, and 16-40 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Anne Arundel County (1957 Edition,
being Article 2 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland),
title "Anne Arundel County", sub-title "Police", and to enact
new Sections 16-37, 16-38, 16-39, and 16-40 in lieu thereof to stand
in the place and stead of the sections so repealed, relating generally
to the establishment of a retirement and pension program for the
members, and widows of members, of the Board of Police Ex-
aminers of Anne Arundel County ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY
POLICE FORCE.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 16-37, 16-38, 16-39, and 16-40 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Anne Arundel County (1957 Edition, being Article
2 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Anne Arundel
County", sub-title "Police", be and they are hereby repealed, and
that new Sections 16-37, 16-38, 16-39, and 16-40 be and they are
hereby enacted in lieu thereof to stand in the place and stead of the
sections so repealed, and all to read as follows:
16-37. The Board of Police Examiners are hereby authorized to
retire from active service:
(a) Any member of the Anne Arundel County Police Force who
becomes permanently incapacitated for police work by accident,
disease or disability which occurred or was contracted while in the
actual performance of police duties and as a direct and natural result
therefrom;
