AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 25-1,
25-2 and 25-4 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Anne Arundel
County (1957 Edition, being Article 2 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland), title "Anne Arundel County", sub-title "Chap-
ter 25. First Election District Ambulance and Rescue Companies",
to authorize the levy of a fire tax in the fifth Election District of
Anne Arundel County and to provide for distribution of the pro-
ceeds to fire companies in the district.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 25-1, 25-2 and 25-4 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Anne Arundel County (1957 Edition, being Article 2 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Anne Arundel County",
sub-title "Chapter 25. First Election District Ambulance and Rescue
Companies", be and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
25-1.
The provisions of this chapter shall only apply to and be effective
in the first and fifth election [district] districts of the county.
25-2.
The county commissioners are hereby authorized and directed to
levy for the year [1955] 1961, and annually thereafter, a special tax
of not more than two cents on every one hundred dollars of the
assessed value of all real and personal property located in the first
and fifth election [district] districts of the county.
25-4.
The proceeds of the special tax provided for in this chapter shall
be paid by the county commissioners semiannually on June thirtieth
and December thirty-first of each year in equal amounts to these
volunteer fire departments located in the first and fifth election [dis-
trict] districts of the county, which have been organized and operate
under the approval of the board of fire commissioners of the county,
and which operate a volunteer ambulance and rescue service.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.
