of Jurors", to increase the compensation of jurors in Calvert
County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 25 (a) and (h) of Article 51 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1960 Supplement), title "Juries", sub-title "Qualifica-
tion and Selection of Jurors", be and they are hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

25.

(a) Jurors in Washington County shall receive eight dollars per
day and a reasonable amount, in the discretion of the County Com-
missioners for each mile over five miles in going to and returning
from court; in Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne's and Caroline counties,
and in Baltimore City, seven dollars and fifty cents per day; in
Somerset and Worcester counties, seven dollars and fifty cents per
day; in Anne Arundel and Montgomery counties, ten dollars per day,
and no extra allowance shall be given either for mileage or overtime
in Anne Arundel and Montgomery counties; in Carroll County, eight
dollars per day; in Prince George's County, jurors shall receive per
diem compensation, not less than five ($5.00) dollars nor more than
ten ($10.00) dollars, in such amounts as shall be set, from time to
time, by the judges of the Circuit Court for said county and in all
other counties, except Allegany, Baltimore, Calvert, Frederick, Har-
ford, Charles, St. Mary's and Wicomico counties, five dollars per day
for each and every day they shall attend the several courts of this
State as jurors and fifteen cents for each mile over five miles for
going to and returning from the court, once in each term, to be paid
by the counties, respectively, in which courts are held. In Baltimore
County, jurors shall receive per deim compensation in such amounts
as shall be set, from time to time, by the judges of the Circuit Court
of Baltimore County. Jurors in Frederick County shall receive at
least eight dollars per day for each and every day they shall attend
the Circuit Court of Frederick County as jurors and a reasonable
amount in the discretion of the County Commissioners, for each
mile going to and returning from the court.

(h) In [Charles County] Calvert and Charles counties, jurors
shall receive eight dollars per day for each and every day they shall
attend a court of this State as jurors and shall receive no extra allow-
ances for either mileage or overtime.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.
