which he becomes a member under the provisions of this section,
together with regular interest thereon. Provided, however, that the
payment by the State of such matching contributions and also its
payment of the prior service credit may together be paid at such and
in such amounts as may be recommended by the actuary for the
retirement system.

(4) Should any member in any period of six consecutive years
after last becoming a member be absent from service more than two
years, or should he withdraw all or part of his accumulated con-
tributions, or should he become a beneficiary or die, he shall thereupon
cease to be a member.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.

CHAPTER 819
(House Bill 339)

AN ACT to repeal Article 75A of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1957 Edition), title "Public Accountants", and to enact new
Article 75A in lieu thereof to stand in the place of the Article so
repealed and to be entitled "Public Accountancy", revising
the laws concerning certified and registered public account-
ants (hereinafter called "public accountants") and public
accountancy; continuing the Maryland Board of Examiners of
Public Accountants under the name of the Maryland State Board
of Public Accountancy, and enlarging its powers; revising the
qualifications of applicants for certified public accountant cer-
tificates, and the scope and other incidents of CPA examinations;
requiring registration of partnerships of public accountants, and
enrollment and annual renewals thereof by public accountants and
partnerships thereof to engage or continue in the practice of
public accountancy; providing for suspension or revocation by said
Board of public accountant certificates, registrations or enroll-
ments, and for prosecution of or injunctions against certain acts
declared to be unlawful; and relating generally to the qualifications
and requirements of public accountants and to the practice of pub-
lic accountancy in this State.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Article 75A of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edi-
tion), title "Public Accountants", be and it is hereby repealed, and
that new Article 75A be and it is hereby enacted in lieu thereof
to stand in the place of the Article so repealed, and to be entitled
"Public Accountancy", and to read as follows:
