(c) Each violation of the provisions of this section is a mis-
demeanor punishable by a fine of not less than fifty nor more than
two hundred dollars.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.

CHAPTER 800
(House Bill 918)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 40 (g) of
Article 10 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1960 Supplement),
title "Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in Fact", sub-title "State's
Attorney", to change the salary and expenses of the State's At-
torney for St. Mary's County, requiring the County Commissioners
of St. Mary's County to provide the State's Attorney with an office
in the St. Mary's County Circuit Court House, and authorizing the
County Commissioners of said county to appoint and pay a salary
to a clerk or secretary for the State's Attorney for St. Mary's
County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 40 (g) of Article 10 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1960 Supplement), title "Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in Fact",
sub-title "State's Attorney", be and it is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

[The State's Attorney of St. Mary's County shall be allowed thirty-
six hundred dollars ($3,600.00) annually for expenses incidental to
his office.] The County Commissioners for St. Mary's County shall
provide the State's Attorney for that county with an office in the
St. Mary's County Circuit Court House. The County Commissioners
for St. Mary's County are authorized to appoint a clerk or secretary
for the State's Attorney's office, and shall provide a reasonable salary
for such clerk or secretary.

The State's Attorney of Charles County is authorized to appoint
an assistant State's attorney and a secretary, the assistant State's
attorney to receive a salary of $1,800.00 a year until June 1, 1957,
at which time the salary shall be $2,400.00 annually. The salary of
the secretary of the State's Attorney shall be $3,000.00 annually.
