their maturity. Such ponds and other obligations shall be authorized
security for all public deposits. It is the purpose of this section to
authorize any persons, political sub-divisions and officers, public or
private, to use any funds owned or controlled by them for the pur-
chase of any such bonds or other obligations. Nothing contained in
this section with regard to legal investments shall be construed as

relieving any person of any duty of exercising reasonable care in
selecting securities.

11. Separability

If any provision of this sub-heading, or the application thereof to
any person or circumstances, is held invalid, the remainder of the
sub-heading and the application of such provision to persons or
circumstances other than those as to which it is held invalid, shall
not be affected thereby. The powers conferred by this sub-heading
shall be in addition and supplemental to the powers conferred by any
other law.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.

CHAPTER 763
(House Bill 613)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 98(a),
98(e) and 98(f) of Article 52 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1957 Edition), title "Justices of the Peace'', sub-title "Trial Mag-
istrate's System"; to add a new Section 98(g) to said Article and
sub-title, to follow immediately after Section '98(f) thereof; and
to add a new Section 108(15) (a-1) to said Article and sub-title,
to follow immediately after Section 108(15) (a) thereof, in order to
provide that the County Council for Montgomery County shall ap-
point a fourth full-time judge of the People's Court of Montgomery
County as of January 1, 1962, to provide that the County Council
shall request recommendations of qualified persons to fill vacancies
on said People's Court and said Council shall give such recom-
mendations due consideration but shall not be bound in making any
appointment to such recommendations and to provide for the salary
and term of said new judge and relating generally thereto.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 98(a), 98(e) and 98(f) of Article 52 of the Annotated
