for injury or, in the case of death, his dependents shall be entitled
to the maximum compensation for death; provided, however, that
where any volunteer fireman is not actively engaged in a business
enterprise at the time of his injury or death, compensation for injury
or death shall be paid upon the basis of the weekly income last re-
ceived by him when so engaged; and further provided, that if such
fireman has never been engaged in a business enterprise, compensa-
tion for injury or death shall be the minimum compensation author-
ized by this article.

(c) The county commissioners of Kent County [and] , Howard
County and Prince George's County shall secure compensation to
volunteer firemen in case of death, or to their dependents, by insuring
the payment of such compensation in the State Accident Fund or in
any private stock corporation or mutual association authorized to
provide such insurance. The County Commissioners of Kent County
and Prince George's County shall annually levy upon the assessable
property of Kent County and Prince George's County, RESPEC-
TIVELY,
a tax sufficient to pay for such insurance. The County
Commissioners of Howard County shall annually levy upon the
assessable property of Howard County a tax sufficient to pay for such
insurance. Provided, however, that the active members of the
Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company shall be limited to seventy-
five members and the active members of the Rock Hall Volunteer
Fire Company be limited to sixty active members, and the active mem-
bers of each of the other volunteer fire companies of Kent County
shall be limited to forty active members, and the active members of
each of the volunteer fire companies in Howard County shall be limited
to seventy-five active members, and only active members shall be
covered by the provisions of this section. , AND FURTHER PRO-
VIDED THAT IN PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY THE COUNTY,
THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF PRINCE GEORGE'S COUN-
TY SHALL PAY 40 PER CENT OF THE COST OF SUCH INSUR-
ANCE TO EACH VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY OR VOLUN-
TEER RESCUE SQUAD COMPANY AND THE VOLUNTEER
FIRE COMPANY OR VOLUNTEER RESCUE SQUAD COM-
PANY SHALL PAY 60 PER CENT OF THE COST OF SAID IN-
SURANCE; AND THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF PRINCE
GEORGE'S COUNTY SHALL ANNUALLY LEVY UPON THE
ASSESSABLE PROPERTY OF PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY A
TAX SUFFICIENT TO PAY FOR SUCH PORTION OF THE COST
OF SUCH INSURANCE.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.
