CHAPTER 697

(House Bill 184)

AN ACT to add a new Section 121 (c) to Article 2B of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Alcoholic Bev-
erages", sub-title "Restrictions Upon Licensees", to follow imme-
diately after Section 121 (b) thereof, requiring that in Anne
Arundel County certain sales of beer to retailers be made for cash
on delivery, providing for the details of such transactions, and
providing that no suit or action ex contractu to enforce certain
claims in violation of this section shall be maintained.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 121 (c) be and it is hereby added to Article 2B
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Alcoholic
Beverages", sub-title "Restrictions Upon Licensees", to follow imme-
diately after Section 121 (b) thereof, and to read as follows:

121.

(c) No manufacturer or wholesaler, wherever he be located in
Maryland, shall sell any beer to any retailer except for cash on
delivery. Cash deposits for returnable containers shall be required
at the time of delivery or sale. In addition to currency, checks
accepted for payment which are not postdated and are promptly
deposited for collection shall also be deemed to be cash. No suit or
action ex contractu to enforce payment of any claim for credit
extended, or to enforce payment of any check given for payment in
violation of this section, shall be maintained in this State.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.

CHAPTER 698
(House Bill 219)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 36(2)
of Article 101 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition),
title "Workmen's Compensation", sub-title "Claims and Compen-
sation; Benefits", amending the laws concerning benefits for
temporary total disability in the workmen's compensation laws
with particular reference to the maximum duration and amount
of compensation for temporary total disability.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 36 (a) of Article 101 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
