Sec. 2. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.

AN ACT to add new Section 112(c) to Article 52 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1957 Edition and 1960 Supplement), title
"Justices of the Peace", sub-title "Trial Magistrates System", to
follow immediately after Section 112 (b) thereof, relating to the
appointment of a Chief Clerk and deputy Clerks for trial magis-
trates in Allegany County, for their inclusion in the classified
service system of Allegany County, and providing for the salaries,
duties, and other matters relating to said Clerks.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 112(c) be and it is hereby added to Article 52 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition and 1960 Supple-
ment), title "Justices of the Peace", sub-title "Trial Magistrates
System", to follow immediately after Section 112 (b) thereof, and
to read as follows:
In Allegany County, there shall be appointed by the County Com-
missioners for the two trial magistrates who sit for the trial of cases
in the City of Cumberland, a Chief Clerk and not less than two
deputy Clerks. The Chief Clerk shall receive an annual salary of
not less than three thousand dollars ($3,000.00). Said Chief Clerk
shall be responsible to the trial magistrates sitting in Cumberland
and said Chief Clerk shall manage and supervise the trial magis-
trates9 court in the City of Cumberland and the deputy Clerks shall
perform such duties as may be assigned to them by the said Chief
Clerk; and said deputy Clerks shall receive an annual salary of not
less than twenty-four hundred dollars ($2,400.00). All of said Clerks
before entering upon their duties shall give bond to the State of
Maryland in the penalty of five thousand dollars ($5,000.00) with
corporate surety to be approved by the County Commissioners of Al-
legany County, the premium of said bond to be paid by the County
Commissioners of Allegany County. The Chief Clerk shall prepare,
and deliver to the County and State officials such reports as are
required by law.
