Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Calvert County", sub-title "County
Commissioners", as said section was last amended by Chapter 213
of the Act of 1935, be and the same is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments; and to add a new Section 81A to said
Article and sub-title to follow immediately after Section 81 thereof,
all to read as follows:

73. There shall be three County Commissioners for Calvert
County. [They shall each receive an annual salary of six hundred
dollars and no more for any purpose whatsoever, and said salary
shall be payable by the treasurer of said county, as other debts of
said county are paid.] The chairman of the Board shall receive an
annual salary of two thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500.00), and
each of the associate members of the Board shall receive an annual
salary of two thousand dollars ($2,000.00); and none shall receive
any extra allowance either for expenses or for any other purpose.

81A. Public advertisements.

(a)   The County Commissioners shall give public notice each year
before adopting or taking final action upon the county budget for the
ensuing year. This notice should be by advertisement in two news-
papers published in the county, at least once in each of two weeks,
giving notice that at a stated time and place, not less than two weeks
in the future, the board will meet in public hearing to permit any
resident of the county to appear and testify concerning the bud-
getary appropriations and allowances for any department or agency
of the county government.

(b)   The County Commissioners shall give public notice prior to
making any purchase with county funds or contracting for the per-
formance of any work to be paid for in whole or in part with county
funds, for any purchase or contract which in either event costs more
than one thousand dollars ($1,000,00). The notice shall be advertise-
ment in two newspapers published in the county, at least once in
each of two weeks, giving notice that at a stated time and place, not
less than two weeks in the future, the board will meet in public ses-
sion to receive bids for the purchase or contract.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.
