5%; after 6 years of service, 15%; after 9 years of service, 20%;
after 12 years of service, 25%; after 15 years of service, 30%; after
18 years of service, 35%; after 21 years of service, 40%; after 24
years of service, 45% and after he has had twenty-four years of
service, his longevity pay shall continue to be 45% of whatever his
base pay may be thereafter, from time to time.] Each employee of the
Department, except the Superintendent, shall receive, in addition to
the base pay received by him during each month of every year an
amount equal to a percentage of base pay in accordance with this
schedule:
After one year of service, 4%
After two years of service, 8%
After three years of service, 12%
After four years of service, 16%
After five years of service, 20%
After eight years of service, 24%
After eleven years of service, 28%
After fourteen years of service, 32%
After seventeen years of service, 36%
After twenty years of service, 40%
After twenty-three years of service,
Such amount shall be paid to him simultaneously with his base pay.
Any increase or decrease in base pay, received in any month [of
any such three year period] by reason of promotion, demotion or
otherwise shall be taken into account in determining the longevity
pay receivable by any such employee and, in figuring the same, the
[5%] 4% or multiple or multiples thereof, as the case may be, shall
be taken of the increased or decreased base pay. In calculating
longevity pay for those who are police employees of the Department
on May 4, 1943, the years of service rendered by each such employee
to the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles and/or to the Department
prior to the beginning of the fiscal year ending in 1944 and to the
Department thereafter shall be taken into account.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1961.

AN ACT to add new Sections 181A through 181K, inclusive, to
Article 41 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition),
title "Governor—Executive and Administrative Departments", to
be under a new sub-title "Maryland Historical Trust", and to fol-
low immediately after Section 181 thereof, providing generally for
the creation of the Maryland Historical Trust, its purpose and
term of existence, the selection, terms, powers and duties of its
Trustees, the general government of the Trust, certain matters
relating to the acquisition and disposition by the Trust of prop-
erties of historic, aesthetic and cultural interest and other matters
incident thereto.
