C H A P.

IV.

II. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Affembly of Maryland, That when and as often as any credi-

ble perfon or perfons fhall bring before any juftice of the peace for Allegany county, the head or

heads of any wolf, or wolves, and make oath, or affirmation if a quaker, menonift or tunker,
that the wolf or wolves of which he or they produce the head or heads were actually caught, and
killed within the limits of Allegany county within fix days next before the proceeding of the

fame to fuch juftice, that juftice fhall and he is hereby authorifed and directed to give

fuch perfon or perfons producing the fame a certificate for fuch head or heads procured and

as aforefaid, and in fuch certificate to mention the oath or affirmation taken and therein

diftinguish how many of the heads are of old or young wolves, and every juftice who fhall have

wolves head or heads, brought before him by any perfon as aforefaid, fhall be and

he is hereby authorifed and empowered to judge of the age of the faid wolf or wolves, of which

the faid head or heads was brought before him, and if fuch juftice fhall believe the age of fuch

wolf or wolves to exceed fix months, that then he fhall diftinguifh or in his certificate by the

words Old Wolf or Wolves, but if he fhall believe the faid wolf or wolves to be under the age

of fix months, then he fhall diftinguifh the fame by the words Young Wolf or Wolves; and that

every juftice before whom any wolf's head is brought, and by whom a certificate fhall be given

as aforefaid, is hereby authorised and directed immediately to caufe the ears to be cut off, and

the tongue to be taken out and the head or heads of fuch wolf or wolves, to prevent fuch

head or heads from being a fecond time carried before a juftice in order to obtain a certificate.

III. AND BE IT ENACTED, That every perfon or perfon producing a certificate as aforefaid

to the juftices of Allegany county at the levy court, fhall, for every old wolf's head be allowed

eight dollars, and for every young wolf's head four dollars, to be by the faid juftices affeffed and

levied in the county levy, together with the fheriff's commiffioner for collecting the fame, and to

be paid by the fheriff to fuch perfon or perfons as fhall be entitled to the fame as aforefaid, any

thing in any other law to the contrary notwithstanding.

Duration

IV. This act to continue and be in force for three years, and to the end of the feffion of af-
fembly that fhall happen thereafter.

C H A P. V.

A Supplement to an act, entitled, An act to ascertain the allowance of jurymen
and witneffes of the general and the feveral county and orphans courts in this
ftate.

Allowance to

gany county.

BE IT ENACTED, by the General Affembly of Maryland, That there fhall be allowed to each grand and

and petit juryman attending the county courts, and each petit juryman attending the or-

phans courts, in Allegany county, in this ftate, the fum of one dollar and fifty cents for each
and every day fuch grand and petit juryman fhall attend for the difcharge of his duty as fuch,
to be allowed, affeffed and levied, in Allegany county, in the fame manner as allowances to

jurymen are affeffed and levied in the different counties of this ftate, any law, ufage or cuftom,

to the contrary notwithftanding.

Duration.

II. This act to be and continue in force as long as the law to which this is a fupplement, and

no longer.

C H A P. VI.
An ACT, entitled, An act to repeal part of an act, entitled, An act to incor-
porate an infurance company in Baltimore-town, and to enable any one com-
pany or ftockholder in faid company to hold a greater number of fhares there-
in than by faid act it is now permitted any one company or perfon to hold.

Preamble,

WHEREAS by the ninth fection of faid act it is provided, that no one perfon or company
fhall be entitled to hold more than ten fhares in faid company: And whereas experience
has proved that the faid provifion in the faid act is inconvenient; therefore,

II. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Affembly of Maryland, That the faid claufe in the faid act
provided that no perfon or company fhall be entitled to hold more than ten fhares in the faid
company, be and is hereby repealed, and that any one company or perfon, being at prefent stock-
holders or a stockholder in the faid company, or hereafter becoming fuch, hereby and is, and
hereafter at all times fhall be entitled to hold any number of fhares in the faid company not ex-
ceeding fifty, any thing in the faid act to the contrary notwithstanding.

C H A P. VII.

An ACT to authorise and empower the levy court of Montgomery county to
affefs and levy annually a fum of money for the fupport of Caffandra Thomp-
fon.

Preamble.

Juftices to levy

WHEREAS Caffandra Thompfon, of Montgomery county, by her petition to this general
affembly hath fet forth, that fhe is deprived of the ufe or her limbs by frequent attacks

of the rhuematifm, and has no other whereby to fubfift but on the benevolence and

care of her affectionate brother, who is very poor, and prays an act may pafs to provide for her

future maintenance out of the poor's houfe; and the facts ftated in faid petition appearing to be

true, therefore,

II. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Affembly of Maryland, That the juftices of Montgomery

county fhall be and are hereby directed and empowered at their levy court annually, fo long as

they fhall fee cause, to affeff fuch levy on the affeffable property of faid county a fum of money

not exceeding thirty dollars, for the fupport and maintenance of the faid Caffandra Thompfon,
