C H A P.

LXXIII.

the ftate of Maryland, with fuch fecurity, and in fuch fum, as fhall be approved
by the levy court of Baltimore county, conditioned for the faithful performance
of the feveral duties prefcribed by this act.

IX. And, whereas by an act of affembly paffed at November feffion, feventeen
hundred and ninety-fix, entitled, An act for building a record-office, and fecuring
and tranfcribing certain records and papers, in Baltimore county, and rebuilding
two bridges over Jones's falls in Baltimore-town, in faid county, it was among
other things enacted, that the juftices of Baltimore county court fhall levy and
affefs on the affeffable property of faid county a fum not exceeding five hundred
pounds, to be applied to the building of a record-office in Baltimore-town: And
whereas it has been reprefented that fuch record-office will not be built; there-

fore, Be it enacted, That the faid fum of five hundred pounds fhall be ana is
hereby appropriated to the building of the faid gaol, and that the commiffioners
mentioned in the aforefaid law fhall and they are hereby directed to pay the faid
money to the commiffioners mentioned in this act, to be applied by them to the
purpofes of this act.

Seven juftices
fufficient, &c.

X. And be it enacted, That feven of the juftices of the peace of the faid
county of Baltimore fhall be confidered a fufficient number to constitute a levy
court for the purpofes of this act; and that the clerk of the faid court fhall and
he is hereby directed, immediately after the paffing of this act, to give notice to
the juftices of faid county to meet for the purpofe of impofing, and they are
hereby directed to impofe, on the affeffable property of faid county, agreeably to
the provifions of this act, the fum of four thoufand dollars, to be affeffed and
collected together with the tax laid by the levy court of faid county at their laft
annual feffion.

C H A P. LXXIV.
An ACT to enable the veftry of Saint-Peter's parifh, in Talbot
county, to receive a deed of certain lands therein mentioned.

WHEREAS the faid veftry have heretofore, to wit, in the years one
thoufand feven hundred and eight and one thoufand feven hundred
and nine, received deeds of certain lands in Talbot county, adjoining
a tract of land called Jenning's Hope, and a tract of land called Goldfborough :
And whereas doubts are entertained, whether, upon a true location thereof, faid
lands, or part thereof, are not included in the lines of the land called Jenning's
Hope, and of the land called Goldfborough, no part of which was conveyed to
the faid veftry: And whereas the faid veftry have prayed this general affembly
that they may be authorifed and empowered, to receive a conveyance for, and to
hold, the faid tracts of land called Jenning's Hope, and Goldfborough, or any
part thereof which the perfons claiming the fame may be willing to convey to
the faid veftry ;

II. Be it therefore enacted, by the General Affembly of Maryland, That the
veftry of Saint-Peter's parifh, in Talbot county, elected, or hereafter to be elect-
ed, under an act, entitled, An act for the eftablifhment of felect veftries, and
the acts fupplementary thereto, be authorifed and empowered to receive a deed or
deeds of gift, in the ufual form of law, for the faid tract or tracts of land called
Jenning's Hope, and Goldlborough, or fuch part thereof as the perfon or perfons
claiming the fame tract or tracts of land may be difpofed to convey to them ;
and that upon the execution of fuch deed or deeds, the faid veftry, and their
fucceffors, fhall be feized and poffeffed of the lands fo conveyed, in as full and
ample manner, and of the fame eftate, title or intereft therein, in law or equity,
as the donor or donors in faid deed or deeds may hold the fame at the time of the
execution of faid deed or deeds; and the faid lands fhall, from thenceforth, be
vefted in the faid veftry, and their fucceffors, in the fame manner as the glebe-
lands of faid parifh are or might be vefted in them by virtue of the faid act,
entitled, An act for the eftablifhment of felect veftries, and the acts fupple-

mentary thereto.
