XXXII.

benevolence and care of her affectionate daughter, who is very poor, and prays
an act may pals to provide for her future maintenance out of the poor's houfe;

II. Be it enacted, by the General Affembly of Maryland, That the juftices of
Montgomery county fhall be and are hereby directed and empowered, at their
levy court annually, fo long as they fhall fee caufe, to affefs and levy on the
affeffable property of faid county a fum of money, not exceeding forty dollars,
for the fupport and maintenance of the faid Jemima Thompfon, and that the
fame be collected and paid annually by the collector of Montgomery county to
fuch perfon as the levy court of faid county fhall or may direct.

C H A P. XXXIII.
An ACT to authorife and empower the levy court of Saint-Mary's
county to affefs and levy annually a fum of money for the fup-
port of Bennett Thompfon, fon of Elizabeth Thompfon.

Preamble,

WHEREAS it is reprefented to this general affembly, by the petition of
Elizabeth Thompfon, that fhe is a widow with feveral fmall children,
accompanied with the misfortune to have a fon afflicted with fits,
deprived of his intellects, and one of his arms entirely ufelefs, and praying that
a law may pafs for the fupport and maintenance of her faid fon out of the poor's
houfe; and the prayer of the faid petitioner appearing reafonable, therefore,

II. Be it enacted, by the General Affembly of Maryland, That the juftices of
the levy court for Saint-Mary's county fhall be and they are hereby authoried
and empowered to affefs and levy on faid county annually the fum of thirty dol-
lars, for the fupport and maintenance of Bennett Thompfon, fon of Elizabeth
Thompfon, and that the fame be collected and paid to them by the collector or
collectors of Saint-Mary's county, agreeably to the order of the levy court afore-
faid.

C H A P. XXXIV.
A Supplement to the act, entitled, An act for the relief of the
poor of Wafhington county.

Truftees ap-
pointed, &c.

Be it enacted, by the General Affembly of Maryland, That Henry Schenebly,
William Heyfer and George Neigh, be and they are hereby appointed
truftees of the poor of Washington county, and they, and their fucceffors,
are hereby invefted with full power and authority to difcharge and perform the
feveral duties and trufts repofed in and required of them by this act, and which
by the act to which this is a fupplement were repofed in and required of the
feveral perfons named and appointed in and by the faid act truftees of the poor of
faid county.

Who fhall

take an oath,
&c.

II. And be it enacted, That the faid Henry Schenebly, William Heyfer and
George Neigh, and each of them, and all and every perfon or perfons who fhall
or may hereafter be appointed truftee or truftees of the poor of Wafhington
county aforefaid, in the manner herein after directed, fhall, with all convenient
fpeed, and before he or they fhall proceed to act as fuch, take and fubfcribe the
following oath, or affirmation, as the cafe may be, to wit: " I, A. B. do
" folemnly fwear, or affirm, that I will well and faithfully execute and perform
" the truft and duties repofed in or impofed upon me as a truftee of the poor of
" Wafhington county, without favour, partiality or affection, according to the
" beft of my fkill and knowledge;" which oath, or affirmation, the juftices of
the county court, or any juftice of the peace, may adminifter and take.

Declared to

be one com-

munity, &c.

III. And be it enacted, That the faid truftees fhall be, and they are hereby
declared to be, one community, corporation and body politic, for ever, by the
name of The Truftees of the Poor of Wafhington County, and by the fame
