of America and their over 5 million scouts will observe the 52nd
Anniversary of the scouting movement in this country; and
WHEREAS, At this time it is appropriate to call attention to the
campaign of the Del-Mar-Va Council of the Boy Scouts for capital
funds (a) to further develop, expand and renovate the existing
Rodney Reservation and (b) to purchase property for and to begin
the construction of a new central reservation to be located at
Marshyhope Creek and the Nanticoke River in Dorchester County;
and
WHEREAS, These improvements to the present facilities at Rodney,
now greatly overcrowded and obsolete, and the new facilities to
be established at the central reservation will provide winterized
shelters, additional camp sites, and other needed buildings and
facilities for the nearly 17, 000 boys members of the Del-Mar-Va
Council; and
WHEREAS, The only source of funds for capital improvements
available to the Scouts is by means of solicitation of the general
public, and in recognition of the great contributions the scouting
movement has made to and for the youth of America, this worthy
project should receive the widest publicity; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the members
of the General Assembly extend every good wish to the Del-Mar-Va
Council of the Boy Scouts of America on its campaign for capital
funds for camping reservations on the Eastern Shore of Maryland;
and be it further
Resolved, That copies of this resolution are sent to the address
to which contributions and funds for this worthy project may be
sent:

House Joint Resolution requesting the new Administration in Wash-
ington to adopt a program bolstering the shipbuilding and ship
repair industry.
WHEREAS, The shipbuilding and ship repair industry is a vital
segment of the economy of the State of Maryland and the City of
Baltimore; and
WHEREAS, Many thousands of our citizens from this industry and
others, with applicable skills, are unemployed in the State of Mary-
land; and
