That Sections 23 (a) and (d) of Article 17 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Clerks of Courts", sub-title
"General Duties of Clerks", be and they are hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
23.
(a) The clerk of each of the circuit courts of this State, in each
county shall be entitled to receive annually a salary of not less than
$1,500.00 $6,000.00 -fand not more than $13,000.00] $15,000.00
$13,000.00 to be fixed and determined in each instance by the Board
of Public Works of this State on the basis of the relative volume of
business and receipts in each such office. Each clerk of the court
shall be entitled to the salary fixed and no more.
(d) The clerk of each of the law and criminal and equity courts
of Baltimore City shall be entitled to receive annually a salary of not
less than $12,000 AND NOT MORE THAN $15,000.00 to be fixed and
determined in each instance by the Board of Public Works of this
State on the basis of the relative public service of each such office.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall not be con-
strued to extend or apply to the clerks in office on the effective date
hereof, but shal Itake effect with the next term of office.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1962.

(House Bill 95)
AN ACT to add new Section 93 to Article 75 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Pleading, Practice and Process
at Law", sub-title "IV Process", to follow immediately after
Section 92 thereof, providing that all process authorized by law
to be issued may be served on Sunday or on a holiday, WITH CER-
TAIN EXCEPTIONS.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 93 be and it is hereby added to Article 75 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Pleading, Practice
and Process at Law", subtitle "IV Process", to follow immediately
after Section 92 thereof, and to read as follows:
93.
The process of any court, PEOPLE'S COURT, trial magistrate,
agency, board, commission, or other officer or body of this State or
sub-division thereof, duly authorized by law to issue same, may be
served on Sunday or on a holiday; EXCEPT THAT NO WRIT OF
DISTRAINT OR FOR EVICTION OR POSSESSION MAY BE
SERVED ON A SUNDAY.
