CHAPTER 92
(House Bill 93)
AN ACT to add new Section 555B to Article 27 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1957 Edition and 1961 Supplement), title
"Crimes and Punishments, " sub-title "Telephone Misuse, " to
follow immediately after Section 555A thereof, to prohibit monitor-
ing7 OR recording, or listening to OF telephone calls made to or
from State departments or agencies, and providing penalties for
violations.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 555B be and it is hereby added to Article 27 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition and 1961 Supplement),
title "Crimes and Punishments," sub-title "Telephone Misuse," to
follow immediately after Section 555A thereof, and to read as
follows:
555B. (a) It is unlawful for any State official or employee to
monitor

a telephone conversation herein
without the use of a recorder-connector equipment which contains a
device automatically producing a distinctive recorder tone which
is repeated at intervals of approximately fifteen seconds.
(b) Violation of the provisions of this section is subject, upon
conviction, to a fine not to exceed one thousand dollars ($1,000).
Conviction of a violation of this section shall also be grounds for
the immediate dismissal from State employment.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1962.

CHAPTER 93
(House Bill 96)
AN ACT to add new Section 95A to Article 66C of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Natural Resources", sub-
title "Agriculture", sub-heading "Soil Conservation Districts",
to follow immediately after Section 95 thereof, authorizing Soil
Conservation Districts to borrow money, and imposing certain
conditions with respect thereto.
