Annapolis, Md., May 30, 1962.

The Senate met 11: 25 o'clock A. M.
Prayer was offered by Rev. James Madison.
Present at roll call were the following Senators:

President, Barrick, Bertorelli, Buffington, Dean, Dorf, Dorsey, Gonder, Hall,
Hepbron, Hughes, James, Johnson, Jones, Mach, Malkus, Nock, North, Parran, Phipps,
Phoebus, Pine, Schweinhaut, See, Shipley, Snyder, Weant and Wheatley. Total-28

The Journal of May 29, 1962 was read and approved.

ORDER
By Senator Pine:

That Mr. Sanford be excused from today's session on account of
illness in his family.

RECESS

At 11: 30 o'clock A. M., on motion of Mr. Pine, the Senate took a
recess until 12: 30 o'clock P. M.

AFTER RECESS

At 12: 30 o'clock P. M., the Senate resumed its session.
Present at roll call were the following Senators:

The President laid before the Senate, laid over bill with amendments,

Subject: "GENERAL ASSEMBLY", sub-title "APPORTIONMENT",
REVISING THE PROVISIONS CONCERNING THE MEMBERSHIP
OF THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES.

Amendments to House Bill No. 1

By the Committee:

Amendment No. 1—In lines 8 to 14, inclusive, of the title of the third
reading file bill, strike out the following: "making an emergency appro-
priation to the Board of Public Works from the General Fund Surplus
of the State treasury for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1963, to be used
in whole or in part by the Board of Public Works to pay a portion of the
cost of special primary elections for this purpose, ".
