VETOED BILLS—Special Session of March 9, 1962
EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT

April 6, 1962.

Honorable George W. Della
President of the Senate
Senate Office Building
Annapolis, Maryland

Dear Mr. President:

I have today vetoed Senate Bill 6, passed at the 1962 Special Session,
and in accordance with the provisions of Article 2, Section 17, of the
Maryland Constitution, I am returning this bill along with my veto
message.

This is an Anne Arundel County local bill which would authorize
the County Commissioners to appoint two additional enginemen for
Volunteer Fire Companies.

House Bill 27 is substantially identical to Senate Bill 6 and ac-
complishes the same result. The only difference in the two bills is
the effective date, Senate Bill 6 takes effect June 1, 1963, whereas
House Bill 27 becomes effective June 1, 1962. Representatives of the
firemen of Anne Arundel County have requested the enactment of
House Bill 27 inasmuch as it has an earlier effective date.

Accordingly, I feel it necessary to veto Senate Bill 6.
With kindest personal regards, I am

Sincerely yours,

(s) J. MILLARD TAWES,

Governor.

Senate Bill No. 6—Anne Arundel County—Fire Protection

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 10-15 of
the Anne Arundel County Code (1957 Edition, being Article 2 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Anne Arundel
County", sub-title "Fire Protection", authorizing the County Com-
missioners of Anne Arundel County to appoint additional engine-
men for volunteer fire companies.
