to return to your Honorable Body my veto messages on Bills passed
during the 1962 Session and subsequently vetoed by me.

However, as a courtesy to you and the other members of the Senate,
I am making available to you copies of all of my veto messages in
order that your Body will be fully familiar with my reasons for taking
the action that I have taken on vetoed Bills.

I have today vetoed Senate Bill No. 35. This Bill pertained to
Inheritance Tax on small estates, consisting solely of two or less motor
vehicles.

I have discussed this Bill at great length with the Attorney General's
Office, and I am advised by that office in writing that this Bill dis-
criminates in favor of certain classes of individuals receiving out of
estates. Because of the views expressed to me by the Attorney
General, I feel I am compelled to veto this Bill.

Senate Bill No. 35—Testamentary Disposition of Motor Vehicles

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 260 of
Article 93 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1961 Supplement),
title "Testamentary Law", sub-title "Orphans' Court", amending
the law concerning the testamentary disposition of certain motor
vehicles in order to provide therein that no inheritance tax shall
be collected on such motor vehicles.

The President put the question, Shall the bill pass notwithstanding
the objections of the Executive?

The President announced the veto was sustained by roll call as follows:
