said hospital building or structure and hospital facilities; all for
the aforesaid Provident Hospital.

(c) However, none of the proceeds derived from the sale of the
bonds authorized to be issued under the provisions of this Act
shall be expended for any of the purposes mentioned in Section 3
(b) of this Act unless and until the Board of Estimates receives
assurances satisfactory to it from the Board of Public Works of
the State of Maryland that not less than approximately Two Million
Four Hundred Thousand Dollars ($2, 400, 000. 00) is being or will
be provided by the State of Maryland for the same or substantially
similar purposes set forth in Section 3 (b) of this Act.

SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby de-
clared to be an emergency measure and necessary for the immedi-
ate preservation of the public health and safety, and having been
passed by a yea and nay vote supported by three-fifths of the
members elected to each of the two houses of the General Assembly,
the same shall take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 13
(House Bill 9)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 521 (b),
of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1961 Supple-
ment), title "Crimes and Punishments, " sub-title "Sabbath Break-
ing", to further define the kinds of retail establishments that may
sell certain goods and merchandise on Sunday in Anne Arundel
County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 521 (b) of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1961 Supplement), title "Crimes and Punishments", sub-title "Sab-
bath Breaking", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:

521.

(b) In Anne Arundel County, in addition to the articles of
merchandise hereinbefore mentioned, retailers may sell, barter, deal
in, and deliver on Sunday the following articles of merchandise:
butter, eggs, cream, soap and other detergents, disinfectants, vege-
tables, meats, and all other food or food stuffs prepared or intended
for human consumption, automobile accessories and parts, boating
and fishing accessories, artificial and natural flowers and shrubs,
toilet goods, hospital supplies, thermometers, camera films, souvenirs,
